I became curious about the ongoing cobol/mainframe talent gap in various industries. As a physicist, I decided to 'learn by doing', and worked through IBM's skills catalog to better understand the ecosystem. So if you're looking for a technical problem solver whose not afraid of working with #cobol, IBM Z assembler, or more general z/OS systems, I'd love to hear what you're working on. #ibm #mainframeskills #cobol #jcl

What can be done with IBM mainframes and existing financial infrastructure, if you add digital identities, smart contracts and tokenization (i.e. new financial infrastructure)? To find out for myself, I got certified as an IBM Mainframe Professional Developer. Mainframes are way cooler than I anticipated. Now, I need to find interested parties who would like to try these new technologies together. Let me know if you are one, or if you know anyone that is interested.https://lnkd.in/eKR-4D6i#mainframe #web3 #tokenization

CICS IS THE OLTP USED BY IBM MAINFRAME - ONLINE TRANSACTION AROUND THE WORLD.DO YOU KNOW WHAT IS BMS? BASIC MAPPING SUPPORT - YOUR SCREENUSE THE ASSEMBLER MACRO TO CREATE THE MAPS FOR YOUR CICS SCREENS.YOU CAN CODE YOUR SCREENS USING BMS - YOU WILL HAVE THE FIELD NAME AND DATA NAMES AND THE ATTRIBUTES CODED WITH THE COLUMNS.YOU CAN USE COBOL, FORTRAN, PL/I AND RPG-II WITH BMS - CICS.AFTER THE USER ENTER THE DATA THEN YOU VALIDATE THE DATA FOR ALL THE FIELDS. PLACE THE CURSOR BY MOVING -1 TO THE LENGHT TO THAT FIELD AND SET THE ATTRIBUTE TO HIGH LIGHT AND MOVE THE ERR-MSG-CODE TO THE ERROR FIELD TO DISPLAY THE ERROR MESSAGE FOR THE USER.
